The current study shows that for small HCC in the presence of compensated cirrhosis, surgical resection gives better results than

radiofrequency, both in terms of overall survival, as well as disease-free survival. Further evidence is required to clarify the role of ablative therapy as a curative treatment and whether it can replace surgery.”
“The present study was undertaken to evaluate the possible antinociceptive effect of Coleus aromatieus Benth oil. The pain sensitivity was assessed by the acetic acid induced writhing and hotplate models in mice. The essential oil exhibited a significant reduction in acetic acid induced writhing response, a dose dependent increase in reaction time against thermal pain and a moderate motor impairment at analgesic doses and significant reduction in endurance time at higher dose AZD6094 mouse on rotarod apparatus. These experimental results suggest that essential oil (250 and 500 mg/kg) produced analgesic effect in mice and may be a candidate for the development of pharmacological agents used in the pain management.”
“Stage III pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) has a poor prognosis, with the results of chemoradiation being disappointing. Radiofrequency

is an ablation technique employed in many unresectable solid tumours, but its application to pancreatic cancer is limited. We report our experience of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with cytoreductive intent in stage III PDAC.

One hundred consecutive patients affected by stage III PDAC received RFA combined with chemoradiotherapy. Follow-up selleck products was planned on a 3-month GSK461364 inhibitor basis including clinical evaluation, serum markers and computed tomography scan or MRI. Short-term outcomes and survival data were evaluated.

Forty-eight patients received upfront RFA, and 52 had associated palliative surgery. Abdominal complications occurred in 24 patients, and in

15 cases, they were related to RFA. The mortality rate was 3 %. At a median follow-up of 12 months, 55 patients had died of disease and four patients due to unknown causes. Nineteen patients are alive with disease progression, and 22 are alive and progression free.

We presented the broadest experience of RFA in stage III PDAC, focusing on the rationale of its application and considering the advanced stage of disease and the cytoreductive purpose of the procedure. The critical aspects of the technique, along with the unexpected results in efficacy, were discussed.”
“”"Development and Validation of a High Performance Liquid Chromatography Method for the Determination of Paracetamol in Tablets”". A simple and sensitive HPLC assay method has been developed for the quantitative determination of paracetamol in tablets. Efficient chromatographic separation was achieved on a C8 stationary phase with mobile phase of KH(2)PO(4) 40 mM pH 6.0 and methanol 85:15 (v/v), at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min.
