In two experiments, the role of Hermetia illucens larvae (HIL) as a protein and protease source in influencing growth parameters, blood markers, fecal microflora, and gas production was determined in growing pigs. In a first experiment, a group of seventy-two crossbred growing pigs, comprising Landrace, Yorkshire, and Duroc breeds, were randomly partitioned into four dietary treatment groups, each consisting of three pigs per pen and replicated six times. The pigs had initial body weights ranging from 2798 to 295 kg. The research design utilized a 2×2 factorial arrangement to compare the effects of two dietary treatments, namely Poultry offal diets and HIL diets, with or without protease supplementation. The poultry offal component of the basal diet has been replaced by HIL. During Experiment 2, four crossbred growing pigs, specifically Landrace Yorkshire Duroc, with an initial body weight of 282.01 kilograms, were each housed individually in separate stainless steel metabolism cages. The dietary approaches were: 1) PO- (a poultry offal diet), 2) PO+ (PO- containing 0.05% protease), 3) HIL- (3% hydrolyzed ingredients replacing 3% poultry offal in the PO- diet), 4) HIL+ (HIL- with 0.05% protease). Experiment 1, encompassing weeks 0 to 2, demonstrated a statistically substantial rise in average daily gain (ADG) and feed efficiency (GF) in the PO diet group relative to the HIL diet group. From the second through the fourth week, the protease group recorded a greater Average Daily Gain (ADG) and Feed Gain (GF) in comparison to the non-protease group. The present study focused on the impact of body condition score at calving on milk output and the success of the transition phase in dairy water buffaloes. The lactation cycles of 36 Nili Ravi buffaloes, enrolled at 40 days pre-calving, were tracked for a duration of 90 days. The buffalo population was stratified into three groups using their body condition score (BCS), graded on a 1-5 scale in 0.25 increment intervals: 1) low, BCS 3.0; 2) medium, BCS 3.25-3.5; and 3) high, BCS 3.75. skin biopsy Similar food was given to all buffaloes, as much as they wanted.
