The knowledge about immune and autoimmune interactions in LE pathogenesis and the contributing cell types is steadily increasing and has led to new therapeutic approaches using antibodies directed against the B-cell activating factor BLyS. In the first part of this review article, the current knowledge about epidemiology, genetics and immunology is summarized. A second article will deal with diagnostics, clinical picture and different treatment modalities.”
“Poliomyelitis, though eradicated from most parts of the world, continues to occur in India. There is paucity of data on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) changes in poliomyelitis.

We report a 31/2-year-old boy who presented with subacute onset flaccid paralysis and altered sensorium. Stool culture was positive for wild polio virus type 3. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed signal changes in bilateral substantia nigra and anterior horns of the spinal cord. These MRI changes may be of potential diagnostic significance in a child with poliomyelitis.”
“The effects of ultraviolet JQ1 mouse (UV) irradiation on the relaxation processes in Ba(0.3)Sr(0.7)TiO(3) thin film capacitors were experimentally investigated in a range of wavelengths lambda = (310-400) nm. It was observed that irradiation with a specific wavelength reduces the time of slow capacitance relaxation up to three orders of magnitude in comparison with relaxation time in the “”dark”" regime. It was also observed that at a certain wavelength of UV irradiation there was a maximum in the leakage current of the capacitors. This wavelength corresponded exactly with a minimum in the relaxation time of the capacitance.
