PEA and asystole were combined as a single state for the analysis of state development. The probability of staying in PEA/asystole BV-6 over time was estimated non-parametrically. between initial and secondary PEA/asystole, the latter was defined by the transition from VF/VT or ROSC.

Results: Among patients with initial PEA (n = 179), 25% and 50% of patients had left PEA/asystole after 4 and 9 min of ALS efforts, respectively. The corresponding time points for patients with initial asystole (n = 70) were 7.3 and 13.3 min, respectively. The probability of transition from secondary PEA/asystole to ROSC or VF/VT varied between 10% and 20% in each 2-4 min interval.

Cohort studies of colorectal cancer, published in English throughout 2010, were identified using PubMed. The risk estimates from 30 eligible studies were summarized for BMI and physical activity. A review of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis (NSF), a severe disorder described in patients with renal disease, appears as timely as the pathogenic role of gadolinium-based contrast agents (GdBCAs) has now been convincingly demonstrated, leading to preventive guidelines.

Thromboembolic events occur following musculoskeletal injury, and some have serious sequelae, including death. The purpose of this study was to determine the incidence of thromboembolic events and its relationship with risk factors in ambulatory patients with ankle fracture requiring open reduction and internal fixation.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective chart review of 2478 patients who underwent open reduction and internal fixation of an ankle fracture at any one of three university hospitals between January 1, 1997, and April 30, 2005. One thousand five hundred and forty patients meeting the inclusion criteria and with complete records (minimum follow-up, six months) were identified.
